Square Enix have revealed the official website for Final Fantasy XIV straight after its announcement at E3 (June 2). The website reveals many images (screenshots, artwork, logo) as well as some new information:

Genre: MMORPG
Release: 2010

It appears that the previously-unnamed MMO Square Enix were developing did indeed turn into Final Fantasy XIV. The best news to come of this, for me, is that Nobuo Uematsu seems to be composing the entire score. Woo!

In a shock announcement made on Tuesday at E3, Square Enix have confirmed the existence of Final Fantasy XIV. The game is being developed for the PlayStation 3 and PC, and will see a simultaneously worldwide release. As for the gameplay, Final Fantasy XIV will be online only.
A brief trailer for Final Fantasy XIV was shown at the Sony Press Conference, one that looked much like Final Fantasy XI and had the text "A new online epic begins." Based on the trailer, the game appears to take place in medieval times with Chocobos and airships.
In an interview with Yoshinori Kitase and Takeshi Arakawa, IGN asks if Final Fantasy will ever return to the old-school style. Kitase replies saying there is no way of predicting what Final Fantasy XIV and XV might bring:

Welcome to the grand opening of FF14 Home. If you're looking for general info on the game, use the menu on the left. The site is updated frequently with Final Fantasy XIV news, so keep up to date by bookmarking the site or using the RSS feed.
Everything is still under construction, so tread carefully! The site will be updated as time goes on, and as more information on Final Fantasy XIV is revealed.
Site hasn't been updated in a while. I've added information on the July issue of Nintendo Dream (released in April...) which discusses Final Fantasy XIII. Shinji Hashimoto states that Final Fantasy XIII will last for 10 years, an indicator that the release of Final Fantasy XIV might be a little later than thought. I've also updated an old entry with a magazine cover. Oh, and I've removed two entries that were revealed to be about Dissidia, not Final Fantasy XIV. In other news, I'm a bit angry that sites with no content are topping the Google results, while I'm barely on there. Oh well...
Updated the History section; more very unhelpful "secret revelation" info. from Square Enix.
As of now, the "History", "Announcement?" and "Staff" sections are up, the last being pretty empty. The history section is probably as large as it can possibly be, providing a complete insight into the development of Final Fantasy XIV.
